Report From the Frozen Northland

It seems, due to a cruel twist of fate from Mother Nature, we've been plunged back into winter for a time.  We've had a relatively mild winter, until now, compared to last winter where we endured up to 12 feet of snow here on top of the mountain. It started in October and ended with 8 inches of snow in April! We lived in shoveled out rabbit trails that we had to follow. One did not dare get off the path as you might not get back on. We have had mostly rain this winter with a few flurries of snow just to remind us it is winter time. While we have had to deal with the mud, I promised not to complain about it, as I didn't need a repeat of last winter.
And now this! At least 8 inches of snow this morning. Thankfully it is a dry, light fluffy snow, but it's snow non the less.
So I thought I would take you on a journey through the homestead  to see what things look like on a morning like this.

Lilly doesn't seem to mind the weather's bad attitude this morning. She IS looking forward to her pan of warm grain though.

Another look at how much snow we got. This is the foundation of our future hand-hewn dairy barn. Some cool stories about that coming soon.

Once the trails are "blazed" it's time to start on the driveway. Here's PW working on his section of road.

On the way back to the house I caught sight of another member of the Law Family Homestead, Spice by name, who chose to stay on dry ground - actually that's one of the hand-hewn beams for our barn.
