I'm having a dilemma and need some opinions and ideas from anyone and everyone who cares to share an opinion! We are the point of painting windows and trim on the barn. I told the guys originally that I didn't want white windows or trim. I thought it might clash or be to much of a contrast with the golden stained logs. I was thinking more along the lines of a dark, luxurious looking brown, like dark walnut brown or something. So I purchased the dark paint and painted all the window frames.
And this is what they look like. The color didn’t turn out quite the warm, dark brown I had in mind.
I went out the other day to put the primer, which is white, on the window trim in preparation of painting tomorrow with the dark brown color. However, when I got the white primer on, and stepped back to look at the barn, it didn't look as bad as I thought it would; I think.
Here’s what it looks like with the white primer on.
Now I'm wondering if I should have painted the window frames white? Or if I should do the trim white and keep the windows dark; or just do everything dark like I was originally thinking? The major draw back to the white is I have six boys! NOTHING, ever, stays white around here for very long!
Here’s what they look like with the brown window frames set in.
Another view - So try to visualize how it would look with the trim brown as well.
We are also thinking of trimming out the doors with the same color. If we do white beside the main door into the barn, I can see the trim becoming a message board of little brown hand prints, that I would continually be scrubbing or painting to keep white. I already do enough of this!
Yet, white is expressive of "dairy." But - I also already bought the brown paint. And I think a dark brown would contrast nicely with the gold colored logs. So, I can't decided and I need to get this done tomorrow so we can put the windows in, which I already painted brown.
I may be overthinking this, so, anybody care to share their opinion of what would look best here? White, brown, a combination, or another color entirely different, I am open to ideas here! HELP!
