Here is a set of barn door pintle hinges made to fit doors measuring 48-inches wide. The hinges are forged by hand from ¼ inch by 4-inch flat steel using a 1¾-pound hammer as well as an 8-pound sledge hammer wielded by a striker for the heaviest part of the forging process. The ends are cut out with our hot-cut and forged 4¾ inches wide before being recut with a decorative design and carefully hand-filed edge finished. The hinges taper from four inches wide to one inch near the end. The thickness varies from 1/8 inch up to 3/8ths of an inch. Six, 7/16-inch diameter holes are drilled on each hinge eight inches apart to accept our hand-made nuts and bolts which are 2¾ inches long included in the price. Each hinge plate is punched and counter sunk to accept four T-40 timber lag screws, not included. All pieces are coated with semi-gloss clear coat to resist rust.
